International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI) subsidiary begins
operations in Kribi, Cameroon
In 2020, ICTSI signed a concession contract with the Port Autonome de Kribi (PAK)
for the development, operation and maintenance of the multipurpose terminal at the
Port of Kribi in Ocean, Cameroon. This concession is scheduled to run for twenty-
five years and the subsidiary will be known as Kribi Multipurpose Terminal (KMT).
Located within the Port of Kribi, KMT is built to handle multi-purpose shipping line
services, including ro-ro, project and heavy cargo, forestry products, dry bulk and
other general cargos. It will also provide a range of support services to the oil and
gas industry.
KMT will be a very large operational terminal by international standards and is a
defining moment for shipping services within the continent of Africa and will have the
capacity to handle vessels with a draught of 16 metres. This concession contract in
Cameroon will last for a quarter of their next century, ending in 2045. During Phase 1
KMT has a 265-metre berth and a 10h-yard. Phase 2 – currently under construction
– will extend that to an additional 350-metre berth and a 23h-yard.
“We are excited to kick off our operation in Cameroon and we look forward to
working closely with the EXIM trade, promoting and enhancing smooth cargo
movements”, says
Kathy Magne, KMT chief executive officer.
